30th July 2017
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Fludyers
Wind Direction: W
Wind Stength: 15-20kts
Surf / Sea State: wavy bumpy
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny cloudy
Max Speed: 26.22 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 22.3 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Another 5 star session at the Fludyers beach - Felixstowe. Sunny, windy and I got a parking space thanks to Neil. Craig and Neil were just launching around 1.30 ish with 7's / 130L. Both flew off the beach and sea looked great. Swainey arrived and took great delight in beating me to the water. Shorty and barefoot, he shot off the beach, 7.3 North E type and big board. He looks over so set mine again - a little more downhaul on my 7.3 E type / 130L Goya Freerace bd. Had to use my light wind 44cm fin as 42 drowned Friday. It was way too much at first. Sea was big further out but nice either side of the rough water. This was going to be a good sail. I was very glad when it eased sometimes as mainly over powered. Swainey went in and changed to 6.6 and really I should have done the same. More downhaul / outhaul def eased the situation so stayed with 7.3. Had lots of burn ups with Craig, Neil and Swainey and again nothing between the old style boards Mistral Explosions, Fanatic, and my newer style shape. Paul Davies / Dolphin Paul were def under on his 5.6 / 6.5 but they had enough power to keep it going. Strawbs looked under on his Sunset Slalom old school board and Al came in the lighter winds although it did pick up again.
Craig again recorded an astonishing 28kts + run in big seas. I made several attempts at the flat patches nearer the beach both ways but only reach 26.22kts (clocked 26.26kts Friday so consistent) but would not release the board downwind in the big waves, it was just too dangerous risking injury so had to concede. Again the broad run made top speed, with the reaching angles only clocking 25kts, 6 or 7 times. Swainey clocked a 26.4kt run with his 6.6 which was good going as he was slightly under.
Another perfect day had by most at the Fludge and great workout by me for around 3hrs clocking 2672 cals. Interestingly Heart rate hit 130 bpm at the precise moment I was clocking max speed. Average HR was 99 for the session... more gym chest work needed to sheet in harder on the gusts I guess and go broader with out digging into back off waves. Have now moved mast foot 2cm’s back for next session and hope Ebay has a 42 fin.
